The Unity Mansion is a trade show that is private, and invite-only. Even the website for Unity Mansion seems a little private with not much information about the event….whatever it is about people are talking.
The Unity Mansion show is held within a mansion in Las Vegas around the same time as Magic, but you must apply because you cannot just attend Unity you must be a valid press, buyer, or clothing brand to attend. To be a guest a staff member or brand must invite you along for the ride. This year it all went down from August 28-29 10am-7pm.
Clothing brands you can expect to see include street wear brands like The Hundreds, and Crooks & Castles plus more cultural lines like Joker Brand.
For more information or to apply visit their website Unity Show.

I was just riding around yesterday when I was in Atlanta and seen all the promotional advertisements on billboards on my way back to little Anderson, South Carolina.
I thought about the thousands these large companies like Calvin Klein and Sean John (Dominate Atlanta Billboards) spend on advertisements on the weekly in magazines, billboards, and some even have commercials.
Financially small companies that we run can’t compete in the advertising space maybe a print ad or two in a magazine, but no billboards and definitely no commercial that would spun any “real” results…don’t get me wrong you could get a commercial on a second-third tier program/channel, but remember our discussion on ROI so would it be worth it?
I think some of these smaller/independent clothing companies like The Hundreds and Crooks & Castles do it best and that is by using word of mouth and grassroots marketing also connecting with customers on a more personal basis.

Manhattan Associates offers logistics and planned supply chain solutions for small to large businesses. Added to the Industry page.
I was a little skeptical about writing about Manhattan Associates, because I usually like to keep with companies that are industry specific, but I decided to give them a chance. They’re not specifically for the fashion industry, but read about them in one of the most respected women’s wear magazine WWD…so they can’t be too bad.
They are here to help you from start to finish from the warehouse, to transportation to get your customers what they want (your product) when they want it (right on time).
Manhattan Associates offer many solutions that help make your supply chain more cost efficient to build revenue, but not sacrifice the quality/rate at which you provide your product or service.
There are many different directions you could go while working with Manhattan Associates. Whether you choose an Integrated Planning Solution or Integrated Logistic Solution or combine both to better suit your business needs.
It’s that time again to give thanks to our sponsor for this month eSource Apparel, which is a great sourcing tool for the fashion industry. They have been with us two months now and maybe three…time will tell.
We are starting to clean up our act around the Dobizo website and soon will only deal with direct sponsors and all the contextual advertisement will dissappear (Sponsored links by Google). Brings a more professional look to the Dobizo atmosphere.
The 125×125 square space will be expanded to six spots and the top position on the page will be the only spots for direct sponsorship on Dobizo. Your banner will appear on every page on the Dobizo blog. Over 600+ articles on the entire blog.
If your company is interested in securing the spot we will have an introductory rate of $250 (125×125 square) and $300 for the sponsorship position at the very top of the website. All ads will run for a month and if you want to secure a spot for longer than we can work out an arrangement to suit both our needs.

A comment by one of our readers got me thinking about what exactly the How to start a clothing line from scratch website is and what I try to present to all our readers on a daily basis.
The post that I have been making about the new green trend and how it is about to be picked up by many clothing companies possibly becoming a bandwagon of some kind was taken the wrong way and a few others.
I think a lot of what I put across people take as my personal opinion or what I actually think of what is going on in the industry.
If it is I will try and let it come across in the articles that I post. Otherwise I am simply stating the facts or what I see is going on in the industry and not directly associating myself with a trend or opinion, but simply letting you know that it is a “green phenomenon” going on or “Chemical Clothing” does exist from China, but in know way do I agree or disagree unless I state it in plain text so please don’t take it that way.
I was reading a site I was thinking about adding to the industry page and came across an interesting definition that is dealing with consumer trends and how they shop.
It is just important to know where and how your customers shop, because they are your target market. If you are selling to any store for the sake of a sell….well I already wrote many articles on it
.
Larger clothing businesses spend thousands per month on tracking consumer behavior and trends to increase the sell through of their brand by putting it in the right place, right people, and at the right time that=profits for the big boys. Without technology to track demographics and other consumer trends none of the above would be possible.
Cross Channel Shoppers refers to the new breed of shoppers who research a product or specific brand online, but would rather go out and purchase it from a retail store.
Statistics show that 38% of total retail sales will be a direct result of cross channel shoppers in the next five years.

This Fashion Network has been slowing down the posting on Dobizo tremendously as you can probably see already.
I work well with sites, codes and designs, but I’m definitely not the best…fashion is my passion. I just want to build an online outlet for us all to communicate.
It has definitely taken a toll on everything involving Dobizo. I’m to the point where I think I might have to hire a coder to help with the Fashion Network site.
First off I’m having problems with confirmation emails reaching all who sign up, because of certain mail restrictions and email clients marking it as spam.
I want to code the website so that you only need one username and password to login into the whole Dobizo system. Forum, Fashion Network, and the Blog.
It has been one hell of a challenge, but I haven’t gave up yet. Just stick in there for me and everything will be back to normal around here hopefully by middle of next week
We spoke about the Material World?global fabric?and sourcing trade event?earlier this year here. By the way don’t forget it is coming up this September 25-27, 2007.
I received an email from their newsletter Material Issues and they highlighted some of the shows educational programs. After reading over some of the conferences I have to say it is definitely more than just a sourcing show for the textile industry.
The topics they touch on describe fabric trends, color, legislation, technology and design.
On the first day they get the ball rolling with a discussion from AAFA’s headliner event People, Planet, and Profit: Reaching for the Pinnacle of Environmental Sustainability, which goes in-depth about notable companies who are profiting while still reaching the pinnacle of environmental sustainability.
I spoke about the PLM event in the introduction review of Material World, but didn’t really go in-depth. AAFA’s supplier resource committee will present Winning Life Cycle Management Strategies-Achieving Speed, Visibility, and Control on the second day of the event.

Thanks for the reminder MindTrix.
The United Trade Show is another promising apparel event going on during Magic. It is fairly new, but shows good grounds for growth in the future.
If you are a buyer or exhibitor looking for a more grounded atmosphere where they are actually conducting business and placing orders not blinded by all the commotion…like at the Magic than this is the destination for you.
This trade show consist of more street wear/urban independent clothing brands. I know many of our readers are independent clothing companies so this quick reminder should spark someone’s interest.
For more info on the United Trade Show see our review or check out their website.

Yes that is right no experience required other than being active in the fashion industry. This is not going to require you to write in-depth pieces about the industry or how-to’s .
Right now we are interested in people who would like to contribute Apparel News, and?Pick of the Day.
As you can see if you read this blog that they require nothing more than a little research and basic english writing skills. If you are already active in the fashion industry finding news pieces and other interesting or up and coming apparel industry companies should be a walk in the park.
In exchange for your hard work you will gain free-exposure (That usually cost Hundreds of dollars…just ask our sponsors
) and build experience as a writer/author. Most likely you will learn a lot while researching and writing articles.
Only the serious need to apply. If you can commit to writing at least?7 200 words or?more articles each week than this is the title for you. Believe me 200 word news articles or not much you will most likely sum up shows, or industry events easily.
