Understitching is a line of stitching along the edge of a facing or undercollar to keep it from rolling to the outside. Understitching is done on all facing edge-seam except the very short ones, such as the ends of a straight collar, or where the stitching would show as a lapel.

Add another counterfeit seize to the list in the amount of $1.3 million in hats, shoes, blankets, wallets, wearing apparel and jewelry all bearing designer names reports Apparel News.

The bust was over two days April 8 and 11, but both shipments were from the same producer in China to the same receiver in Texas. No names were released on the buyer or shipper by the Customs agents.

As stated above the value of the goods were at around $1.3 million, but could’ve been sold as orginals for a total of $38 million. The counterfeited items included juniors labels like Baby Phat, and more pricier designer labels including Giorgio Armani, Burberry, and Dolce & Gabbana.

DNR speaks on the evolution of the urban consumer and where has he gone??? Nowhere just evolved and moving along with the natural progression of fashion in my opinion.

You either adjust with the times or sit around and play catch up while losing sales to the progressive company’s that are willing to adapt to a little change. LRG did it and look at the success of their clothing line by bridging the gap between skate, surf, and street wear to form a brand with a universal appeal.

Some highlights from the article that I agree with:

“If you want to find him, skip the urban specialty stores and check out the floors at Nordstrom or Metropark instead, where he is picking up some premium denim and a rock & roll–inspired T-shirt. At his local skate shop, he’s decked out in So-Cal action-sports labels. Underground sneaker shops sell him hard-to-find gear from progressive streetwear labels.”

Highlights that I don’t agree with:

“Even Abercrombie & Fitch, home of the white-bread frat boy, has become a popular destination for the wandering urban shopper. “

pull the plugI know this is something that many of you would never want to come to terms with, but in all reality it is something that many businesses face.

There will be many times where you think it is not going to happen or you have exhausted all your resources and it is time to throw in the towel, but how do you know that this time it is for sure or are you just giving up out of pure frustration?

I personally would never give up unless I’ve used all my resources and tried every alternative possible and they’ve all failed, because unless you truly took advantage of every waking moment and opportunity your thin line between failure/success could lie between.

The idea for this article came about after finding out about MindTrix Clothing calling it quits after five years in business and are in the process of selling off the last of its inventory. They’ve decided to pull the plug after Mindtrix ran out of money to continue production after a couple of setbacks in 2007. Hopefully this article will help them sell off the last bit and good luck to them in the future. Show your support for a fellow designer-entrepreneur by Shopping Mindtrix clothing.

Purchase-Order Financing:

There are other ways to get your store orders manufactured without using your own money up front. In this article we will discuss one of them. Purchase Order Financing is short term funding used to finance the purchase or manufacture of specific goods. Basically meaning if u just attended a trade show (magic, aaeshow, alpha) and have an abundance of orders or at least $10,000 worth the more the better interest rate. U can attain cash by using your purchase orders from credit worthy store accounts and they will give u the money to finance the orders up front. U than pay your manufacturer and ship your product to stores. The store in return pays the financing company and they (the company) will cut your check (profit) minus the interest u owe them. It?s a very simple process and not a lot of paper work and best of all there is no business credit check or personal credit check on your end. As long as you have quality stores with a proven track record buying your product with a proven history (open longer than 6mths to a year) you will most likely qualify. Interest rates vary between companies depending on the loan amount the more the better and the risk their taking with the stores you?re retailing in.
