FlipNY logo

1 How Much Capital did you start FlIPNY with?

The initial capital investment was about 25k. It was used to trademark, incorporate, produce initial samples, and get web domain names.

2. What will your company bring to Dobizo fashion network?

The Company is not called Todd Aferiat or Rob Levine or Andrew Goldberg or Valentine Whittaker. The Company is called FLIPNY. It’s bigger than any single one of us and stands for every single one of us… and every New Yorker. There is no brand today that captures the history, energy, and lifestyle of NY the way we do. Why? Because we get our designers from: alphabet city, Williamsburg, Harlem, fort green, Sutton place, Tribecca, SoHo, uptown, ozone park, etc. We get local new Yorkers to design for NY. Some are trained fashion designers and some are trained photographers, corporate lawyers and economist. We cast a wide net for our inspiration because we want to development FLIPNY by interacting with our consumers. Anyone in NY who wears FLIPNY knows it was designed by a New Yorker and most likely one of their friends. That is the only agreement that Todd and Rob enforced on me when I joined the team. And that is why Andrew and I fell in love with the energy of FLIPNY… that energy is translated into every single item in every single collection. FLIPNY is New York’s brand.

Bagonia Bags

1. How much capital did you start your company with?
Bagonia was started with an initial investment of $17,200.

2. What will your company bring to the Dobizo Network?

I come from a product development background, so I hope to bring the network some insight, innovative ideas, and a different way of looking at things.

3. How long has your company been established and where did it begin?

I began the company in January. It started with an idea I had last summer that I sat on for a while. Once I figured out exactly what I wanted to do, I just went for it. I got my license, business cards, and headed to the Magic show to scope things out. And it’s just snowballed from there.

4. What obstacles have you faced with starting your clothing line so far?

another design studio

I rarely speak on many manufacturers, but Another Design Studio caught my eye with their online presentation through their website and just the way all the information is laid out.

The Another Design Studio team consists of Three guys who claim to have over 60 years experience within the apparel industry.

They have a great resume to back up their experience with top positions at company’s such as Levi Strauss, Hudson Jeans, Nike, Olah Inc, 7 of All Mankind, GoldSign, and Abercrombie & Fitch. All team members hold experience in different segments of the apparel industry.

Gary You works as a product development & sourcing specialist. Stefano Aldighieri specializes in men’s & denim design while last, but not least Dan Disanto works as a master pattern maker & technical designer.

Another Design Studio offers many services some that would be particularly attractive to start-ups:

  • Bringing a designers business to life from concept to completion
  • Consulting including branding, assisting start-ups
  • Designing specializing in denim, knits, wovens, and outerwear
