This is the fourth installment of the Dobizo Answers page in one day…might I add :) . It looks as if I might have struck gold with the addition of the Dobizo Answers and Promote page.

Matt Shit :( Gave one hell of an introduction so long that I’m not going to post it, but you can see it here then asked this question:

how important is the origin of the shirt in the fashion industry and how much does it effect the success of a line and how often is it considered when customers purchase clothes?

Funny you ask that question Matt, because if you would’ve scrolled a little past the fifth article you probably would have seen this Consumers Are Now More Conscious of Made In U.S.A. Label and How Apparel Companies Use It In Marketing Their Product it is an article discussing the origin of garments and how consumers react to it in this day and age.

The question you asked is very much depending upon a persons opinion and economic outlook. Also the audience you target and type of clothing you produce. I would think that a “green” clothing company’s consumers would probably be more concerned with the origin of the clothing garment as opposed to the younger audience of most street wear, sportswear, or urban brands, but then again it’s just my opinion even though I think most would agree.

Hopefully that helped and keep them coming to Dobizo Answers.

I don’t care where it is made or the origin as long as it is fashionable or of some quality. I will wear it, but as you said its only an opinion!

I could see why some people would be concerned though.

The perceived value of the garment is the initial reaction of any consumer. If it has a great hand and catches your eye that is what matters. Origin is certainly an important factor in boutique driven lines. However on Promotional quality tees 80/20 or 100% that you find in Target, urban outlets etc…I dont find it to be a concern for younger kids to see the fabric is made in Honduras and embellished in NY. If it has a Made in the USA label on it then it only adds more integrity to the purchase. Maybe .01% of the population wears all organic, Made in the USA apparel at all times. 80 percent of our line is fabric made in the USA and embellished in Massachusets.

THIS ONE STRUCK A NERVE. I have to stand up for this one. Where I’m from, (detroit) the home of the automobile, all thruout my neighborhood and surrounding area you have a common theme. HOUSE FOR SALE. and you know why sports fans, it’s because IT DOES MATTER WHERE SOMETHING IS PRODUCED. As in autos’ as in fashion, it always matter, the world is very competitive. Whenever possible buy american, and we have to come up with ways to be competitive to make it easier to do so. gyebags.com Jann Peace
