Well while I was reading the Hypebeast forums?a while back I ran across a brand named The Hundreds?which is a street wear line and webzine based out of California based off Los Angeles Lifestyle/California culture. The company is headed by two young guys Bobby and Ben hundreds?. nice guys by the way. The line is being ran out of a office in California where they began about three years back with just t-shirts and a webzine and now has expanded into three labels The Collection, Public Label, and soon to come Tens(women program). I guess their claim to fame was having a write up on the front page of the famous Hypebeast blog and their new collection selling out overnight! Good Stuff

Well anyway I was reading up on them in the forums and bobby answered a few questions on the topic about starting a street wear line. I read through the post and read where he said if anyone needs questions answered or anything hit us up. We like helping people with getting started in anyway possible and talked about how he posts aim on myspace for the kids to ask questions about the brand and things about getting started in the fashion industry. So I think hmm?I?m part of How to start an apparel line from scratch. Bobby Hundreds great Fashion Feature Fridays right, answer a few questions and help out the How to start an apparel line from scratch blog community.

This is the email I had sent:

We would like to do an interview with your company for our blog…the name of our friday slot is Fashion Feature Fridays in which we display a group of questions about up and coming clothing lines. Our blog is on How to start an apparel line from scratch. http://apparelblog.dobizo.com I would really appreciate your input on helping young entrepreneurs materialize their dreams and push the envelope. If so I will follow up with an interview via phone or email which ever one is better for your company

thanks for considering

What we received back: (exact spelling and all)

Thanks for teh potential opportunity, but we will pass for now.
Good luck!

Not saying he is a mean guy or wrong for his answer. It?s just that you shouldn?t put yourself out there like your open to help people out when that?s really not what your about. At the time the apparel blog was a rather small community, but now has grown in traffic and could help any line get a few new customers. So I guess we weren?t HUGE enough for the hundreds to sit down and help out some soon to be fashion entrepreneurs.

The funny thing is that most people in the industry are like this and that is one of the reasons we decided to start the apparel blog. We wanted to share information that you could only learn through trial and error things you can?t learn in any classroom, but in order to further inform you we need the help of fellow fashion entrepreneurs with a proven success track like The Hundreds. Look out for an all new

Fashion Feature Fridays soon.

thats not cool do say something and not do it hopefully something was going on that they have a good reason but that leaves a bad taste in alot of people mouth

It’s like Lupe Fiasco said in that Weekly Drop interview, Bobby Hundreds is a hater..fuck ‘em if that’s how they wana carry…It would have been nothing to do an interview and show love by just answering a few questions. It’s not even that they’re all that huge (the labels themselves) but their blogsite is really popular.Which is even more reason why they should have obliged and done the interview because supposedly, as they claimed, they’re on the same tip as yall’s blog with helping out. Plain Gravy made that “Pharell Can’t Skate” t-shirt and Hundreds was pushing them real hard on their blog - and that’s the shirt Plain Gravy is trying to jump their whole line off with.Just start off hating to get in the game. The thing is I’ve seen videos where Pharell was skating in, he has the little ramp inside his house or whatever, he skates and can do a few tricks - he’s just not a professional skater. It’s like Lupe said in the interview too, which I agree with, not everyone’s aspiration is to be a pro skater. The man is a business with music and fashion, and that’s just plain hate because they see that man is succeeding with extra-extra money deals selling tees for like $90 plus. And they are in their little office..thinking that some how skating belongs to them. It’s just hate man and really divisive in nature. They have an idea of and try to define what “Streetwear” is supposed to be about. What’s worse is Pharell is probably the most responsible for the whole skating thing really going mainstream again to the masses..this cat had on all the skate gear on back in the day. When he was in the videos he was always dressing like that. You see cats like him crying on Hypebeast all the time. Some maybe because certain rappers rock streetwear brands in a video, so that’s going to make the line blow up and take away from it’s exclusivity, just plain dumb.I mean if you’re in business the goal is to make money right ? I wouldn’t even reach by saying some of them have the same attitude like the president of Cristal when he talked down on rappers drinking Crist. They also have this little thing about “streetwear” vs “urban wear” but I feel that has even deeper connotations.Like certain brands are “for the thugs” or some shit, baggier type dress and they don’t wana be associated with that. It’s whatever man..just had to weigh in with my opinion but it is what it is.Just keep doing what you’re doing, I know myself and others appreciate the effort. Marco

y’all need to realize that just cause they passed up on one thing doesn’t mean that they’re not doin their best to live up to what they say. And Marco, you’re saying you hate haters, then you go on to say, “And they are in their little office..thinking that some how skating belongs to them. It?s just hate man and really divisive in nature” which makes you a hater. Stop being divisive and stop hating, or admit that you’re hater and hate on, either way pick a side.
