I was just writing down some ideas and speaking with some designers about the Dobizo Network and I know some of my best creations come from brainstorming with other folks about the situation at hand.

So what better way than to ask the people who I cater to the Dobizo Blog readers!

Let’s say you…yes you owned Dobizo Network the blog, forum, and the fashion network. What would you do to make it better or worse or just to change it to suit your needs?

We’re really serious about making this the destination for the fashion industry to connect, learn and share contacts and experience.

Please leave your feedback and opinions.

I had this idea the other day, you seem tech savy enough to implement it.
Start a Designer/Sales Rep social network.
I was thinking it would be great for designers to find reps and reps to find new lines to carry. You could have the reps list what lines they rep and what areas they felt they could bring on a new line. that way designers could pitch their line to reps and reps could pitch their services to designers. And people that wanted to be sales reps could break into the business with new lines that need any kind of exposure they can get.

Then I would build it up and sell it. I heard facebook sold 2% of their company for 240mil, go get some of that.

    If I was Mr.Williford

I would create a Top 10 Underground Brands List. Then I would Put Six Figgaz #1 :)

O yea..Martin & Meinmind Idea arnt that bad either..

    Meinmind:

That is basically what I started the Fashion Network for the social network aspect and their are many sales reps on there and designers make up the bulk of the profiles…it is just a matter of gaining momentum with the network so that it pretty much runs itself…meaning getting the members more active…

    Any ideas?

cool. I haven’t been checking out that site to much, sorry. Which site currently has more daily hits? I am just guessing this one, so put up a bunch of advertisments on this site saying stuff like “Need a rep for your line? See what reps are now looking to carry new lines - The Fashion Network”, “What to be a sales rep for a up and coming brand? - The Fashion Network”. Just whatever to get them there and set up an account. The user search on the Fashion Network site should be like Hot Jobs or something like that, where there would be some links that said “I am a _____, looking for a ______” In the blanks you would have the pull down menus that are currently o nthe user search page. So for example “I am a Owner, looking for a Footwear Designer” Then the results would be everyone that selected Footwear Designer in their profile. I know that with the current user search you can get the same results, but the layout needs to be extremely simple or people get confused. Check out http://www.guru.com, I use this site when I am looking for graphic designers and web developers. They make it really simple to find what yo uare lookign for then ranks the results. Their results are based on $ that the user has made through the site, but you could rank people based on their involvement in the site or the last time they logged in. Just something like that so the person searching knows that the results are for people that are involved and dead ends.
Another thing that might work at getting the attention of a lot of brands to create an account is to start a brands directory where brands/or fans of brands just submit their website and a breif discription. Then if they dont have an Fashion Network account you put the “tell a company” email link next to their name with a auot email already entered (this might take a little time to find, but most brands list some email on their website) that way they get a bunch of invitation emails for random people and figure it might be something to look into. Once they have a profile you take of the email link.
I don’t know how much control you have over the layout of the site, but these are just a couple ideas that i thought might help out. If i think of any more i will let you know.
    peace,
    christian
    (nevermind all the spelling errors)

Why haven’t you been checking out the site too much? That might be part of what I need to fix…. :)

Those are some GREAT suggestions and I thank you for them…keep’em coming guys.

  8. Miz Says:

I’d put to use all my knowledge and what and who i know…..to start a very successful brand rather than write about it……

  10. SillyBoy Says:

do what i do get a $4itty 9-5 job where you make no money and every day come home and walk into
your fully loaded screen printing shop , look at all you killer designs and you lists of stores that want your stuff and ask yourself ……….why won’t i jump….what is stoping me….why can’t i quit my soul crushing job and start living my dream (to have a clothingl line)

    as for the site
just keep writing this bible called DOBIZO

  11. NikaSkye Says:

I would start a Magazine. There is already enough buzz about the site that will give a lot of credibility for success.

  12. dani Says:

I also think what NikaSkye said would be a neat idea. Except there is a lot that goes into producing a magazine, and printing it, plus the cost of it as well. So it would have to be a small scale thing to start out with so you could have a feature like every 2 months or so on a a few clothing lines, so this would include like their company bio, contact info, and items from there line, and whatever else they have to promote themselves. . . if you do every consider this (I would like to help)

  13. Kurrstine Says:

FYI: panjiva.com - it’s a a database who rates oversea suppliers. Think of it as the apparrel’s industry version of zagat ratings. hope it helps.
