It seems that if a clothing company isn’t in the same category of clothing there is no harm in two clothing company’s who names resemble each other for example: Street wear vs High Fashion, or Contemporary Fashion vs Urban wear, because if you remember a few weeks ago I wrote about the two clothing company’s Parish Clothing and Parish Nation and there conflict of interest.

I guess in some way it’s not direct competition considering there selling to two completely different markets in the case of Blac Label a street wear line vs. Black Label a new upscale line produced for Guess jeans maker by Marciano.

Guess’s line of clothing will feature runway-inspired tailored clothing, blazers, vests and woven dress shirts. While Blac Label is a line of urban inspired street wear that includes tops, jeans, jackets, and accessories sold in major retail stores including Macy’s throughout the United States, but with two familiar names I’m sure Blac Label has their name protected, because it is produced by a company that owns multiple lines within the fashion industry and they are all fairly successful.

Where is the line drawn on registering names and fair competition in the marketplace?
