There has been many questions and concerns about copyright on this blog and throughout the Dobizo Network. I thought it would be good for us to address this once and for all.
I’m going to note some answers and replies found throughout the site about copyright.
Many are wondering how to go about making sure they’re protected and if they happen to be a victim of copyright infringement what will hold up in court and is trademark or copyright the best answer amongst many other questions.
The best answers to date can be found in the forum. A new member JCSprowls seems to be very knowledgeable on the subject of the ‘fashion industry’ amongst many other things and has been helping out around the forum with great answers to many members questions(Oh yeah and Thom is still up to his antics
).
Here are some of the key post I want to highlight:
- Copyright Issues
- Just great info about manufacturing rates and working overseas. Read here
- Money for Designs
- Looking for advice
The above is just a taste of what is going on in the community network and forum.

copyright or trade mark your logo or / and name or some will steal it if it works. Even after trade marks people will steal it but at least u can prove its you

as far as I know, there’s no way to full protect a design ( cloth ) there’s no law for that yet, and the reason is because for example, if somebody comes with a long sleeve shirt or T-shirt and then I do the same design but with short sleeve, the first person can not claim that design as his design and there’s not copyright for cloth design yet, before I tradermark my brand ( BAC2DAROOTS ) I was thinking about how to protect some of my designs, and decided to research about it, I might be wrong. if copyright was valid on cloth design LACOSTE Family would be one of the richest family in the world.
But I heard that they’re trying to create something that will give a few years ( 3 years I guess ) protection kind copyright, you created something different you will have those
years to use without anybody else use without your permission, after that anybody will be able to use…
Overall: to protect your Clothing Co. you just need to Register your tradermark that will most protect the name and not the designs
Hope that Help
Peace out…
