I mean not directly but are customers shopping less or are you finding yourself with less money for promoting and marketing, because I know many of you probably operate your business off of the same budget you live off of, which isn’t good, but part of the struggle and grind when you’re operating independently until you reach a sizable budget.

I know it has affected the way I travel and spend tremendously. I actually work out of Barnes and Noble in Atlanta on the daily. Free electricity, good coffee/snacks, and $20 per month WiFi payment..not too bad. Its also a better environment then working out of a home office kind of limits your creativity when you’re staring at the same walls all day trying to think of new ideas and be innovative.

I see many smaller boutiques struggling to make sales, because consumers aren’t as frivolous and readily able to spend their money on premium priced clothing and the travel to those type of shops that are usually on the out skirts of the city is just as much as a hassle financially as paying for the garments.

WWD reports the decline of quarterly reports from top specialty retailers (Limited Brands, Talbots Inc., Charming Shoppes) as proof to consumers clenching their wallets closer than ever before. While lower priced mass retailers (Ross Stores Inc.) posted slight gains.

5 Responses to “How Is the Rising of Gas and Food Prices Affecting Your Business”

  1. Delmonicole Says:

The gas prices has definitly affected my business. I work with the money that I live off of so there is much extra income after the neccessities are paid. The fact that gas prices are said to go up an additional 50 cent makes it even worse. Salaries are still the same, but the cost of living is rising. There are lots of people who are concentrating on making ends meet….not spending money on clothes

My father is a limo driver in new york city, for him, the higher gasoline prices have hurt the business real bad. Because of competition, the company cannot raise its prices, to level out with the gas prices, the company prices remain the same as it was in previous years of Booming times. With the gas prices going up, people are having tighter budgets, so they are paying for limo’s less, so the business has slowed down. Overall a very bad combination for the business!

The increase of gas really has a great impact to the price of basic commodities. So what we should do is nothing but conserve.

I just purchased a new Gas Station. So my New business is booming!

    Did you really?

As far as I know, even though the prices of gasoline are high, the margin of profit for the gas stations is still the same.
