Yesterday’s post on the relaunch of Pick of the Day: Worldwide Exposure… Was kind of a wake up call for me and a valuable lesson on how most of our visitors think and react.

If you remember the Dobizo Will Finance Your Clothing Company April Fool’s Day Prank long story short one of our writers said we would finance your apparel company and we would pick the best clothing company that left a comment out of the top 10. Needless to say in a couple of hours I received 100’s of emails from entrants who all thought they we’re ready for the financing/investor stage, but yesterday in the Worldwide Exposure article we wrote about how we would write about your clothing company on the front page of the blog that receives thousands of daily visitors and thousands of daily subscribers, but I received less than five emails that actually thought they were ready…. huh! and the others were talking about how they would be ready in the future or just not ready at the moment, but you’re ready for financing?

I feel like I’m starting over again with the re-launch of my clothing line. I’ve been so busy working on Dobizo the feeling of getting back into my clothing company Scout Union Apparel has been rather tiresome.

I’m starting to get the feel back with some of the design programs mostly Illustrator and Photoshop. I want to work a little bit with some of the CAD programs to get a better feel of the systems, but I will leave that to the professionals for now until I have more time to put effort into it.

I tell you one thing it feels great to have a much better understanding of how the business works and I have met so many great contacts since starting this website and as it continues to grow my outlet for suppliers, designers, and contacts continue to expand.

Me, I, Fred had nothing to do with the JOKE! Let me say that first.

I think this may go down as the most evil April Fools Day joke ever! They spoke with me about doing a joke and I said okay, but didn’t know what exactly they had in mind.

One of our writers thought it would be funny to run a fake contest that most of you guys thought was real, saying Dobizo would finance your apparel line, but some people figured out it was an April Fools day joke…I’m so sorry if you thought it was real I’m away in Atlanta for the time being handling some business and my pocket pc email for fred@dobizo.com begin to go off every other minute!..so I knew something wasn’t right…either I was being attacked by spam or as I thought it was a joke.

The joke was kind of played on both of us in a way, but like I said I apologize personally if you feel any kind of way about the April Fools Day Prank…I knew nothing of what it would be.

First off let me say I’m glad the site didn’t lose all its data, but some was lost mostly from the Industry Sourcing page! (Which you can help out with by submitting sites and fashion industry related businesses to).

Don thought a good idea for us to get to know each company that may be interested in the collaborated trade show concept would be for us to meet up for the next Alpha & AAE trade show as just visitors and he would handle the badges. All you would have to do is show up and if your going to stay for all days of the trade show have your hotel arrangements setup, if not then visit for one day.

We would get a good feel of who wis serious and also let first time attendees get an idea of how attending a trade show would affect your apparel business.

I wasn’t able to get to my laptop all weekend…so if you’ve sent me an email or posted a question on Dobizo Answers give me a little time to catch up and I will respond accordingly.

I will have a new Ceo Audio up by the end of the week. A little twist in this release though because it will be from a retail buyers perspective. I thought this would be a good twist because he will provide insight on the thought process of how he goes about picking and choosing the brands for his store. What attracts him to a trade show booth? What he looks for in startup brand? and much more so stay tuned this will definitely be of some interest to many up and coming brands trying to break into their first retail account.

So I’m sitting here trying to figure out what I can do to put the Dobizo Network on a whole other playing field. The first thing that comes to my mind is to get more mainstream coverage on what we have going on over here. You know old media coverage newspapers, tv, and magazines. They should be interested in Dobizo right?

At least I think so in some form or fashion. We have been covered in publications, but not many mainstream like New York Times or USA Today, which I think would do wonders as far as exposure and gaining new professionals to chime in from time to time.

Only problem I can’t think of many ideas or angles to approach the press release with. Of course how to’s, fashion news, and Ceo Audios get us excited, but mainly because we are interested in the fashion industry as a whole. What I’m thinking is that the mainstream will not be as excited about our community unless I can think of an exciting spin to put on the release or highlight some of our accomplishments or what makes us standout from every other web property.

Dobizo went down for a couple of days do to Godaddy and there no good servers, but we’re back with a new company and everything is coming along.

Dobizo had a small power outage during some spikes in our hourly traffic we were down for about a total of 3 hours… :(. Might be time to upgrade my server since we are basically running three sites forum, network, and blog. I don’t know we will see how it holds up tomorrow around this time and if the spike continues hopefully it does.

I think there should definitely be more stern laws protecting your creativity, but not too much so to bar the natural progression or growth of the fashion industry. It just seems that not too many are creative these days or just have too much money lying around and would rather spend millions promoting dead end products just to break-even or barely turn a profit…time for some innovation!

By now you’re probably wondering what I’m writing about right?

Well I was at a local shopping center this weekend in a footlocker store where I thought I saw a pair of Prada Americas pictured below:

But in all actuality they were the new Fila’s that have been on promotional rotation on MTV, BET and VH1 by up and coming Hip Hop artist “Hurricane Chris”. This puts them in the same boat as all the sneaker lines that have came up off of the styling of the Air Force One shoe by Nike, but even worse in my opinion.

This is a preview of the new layout for Dobizo, forum and fashion network (Wish I could’ve received a bigger picture, but this will have to do for now). They will all be combined as one site so that the functionality and
