No More Comments On Dobizo

Posted by: Fashion06 in Blogging |

Comments on the Article blog are now OFF! If you wish to leave feedback or your opinion of an article individual threads will be created in the Dobizo Community for further discussion. Go to discussion by Clicking Here Now

I have decided to stop comments on the blog for a few reasons. I would like to hear your opinion still considering this will be the last post with comments. ( I will stop them at the end of the day)

The number one reason is because Dobizo is much more than a blog now and has expanded to become a Network for the Fashion Industry and to me comments and opinions are better left for the forum were they are easier to moderate and found by users. That takes up a considerable amount of time to go through 300 comments and only 20 are real and the others are spam.

Also I noticed a decline in comments once I setup the forum and fashion network and that is what I expected because most like to voice their opinion in a forum because it is a more discussion based setting. This doesn’t mean you cannot give ME your opinion there is always my email and I’m on the fashion network and forum.

I think it is safe to say we’re now number 1 for how to start a clothing line and succeeding in the fashion industry on the internet.

Averaging around 200-350 visitors per hour and growing every week :)

Next is number 1 for the fashion industry. The graph below only shows Dobizo and the other top blog on succeeding in the fashion industry and as you can see we have passed them in a little less than a year. This is a great accomplishment considering the other sites have been out for three years or more and to believe I started this blog not knowing anything about websites or optimization.

Thanks guys I couldn’t have done it without you! Next month let’s try and double the traffic :) .

Well for some odd reason the people over at AIU (The College I attended at one point) wants to do a profile of little ole’ Dobizo and I for use around the school and possibly in other advertising material. What do you guys think?

It is definitely an honor and they say they only feature exemplary students or graduates of the AIU college and they were very impressed with what we have going on here :) . I couldn’t build this community without all the readers. Basically we’re doing a phone interview on Friday that I agreed to participate in and I also may speak there in the near future on entrepreneurship and the business of fashion.

Wish me luck!

Anything you guys think I should include or exclude?

Sorry For the DownTime

Posted by: Fashion06 in Blogging |

Dobizo was down today for about two hours during the most trafficked time from 11-1pm! Due to the wordpress upgrade process and it caused my blog to pretty much crash, but I have since figured it out. Many of the other wordpress users were having similar problems.

We are back and in full force ;) enjoy!

Top Commentator Contest Still Live

Posted by: Fashion06 in Blogging |

The Top Commentator contest that I wrote about here is still live until the 13th of this month.

The plugin on the bottom right side just resets every month, but I have kept tabs on who is in the lead. As of now Jay Gray is in the lead….by a long shot. So if you want to catch up I suggest you read the rules for the contest and start commenting.

This is just a quick note to anybody who has bookmarked the fashion network or is a user we have changed the url to http://www.fashionbusinessnetwork.net you can still access it at the old address, but this is more memorable and easier to type in and that is (.net) not .com

I love these types of post, because it gives me room to go off topic for a little while and let you guys get to know me on another level outside of the fast moving world of fashion. I read this post over at Steve Pavlina’s blog about multimillionaire John Assaraf that has started not one, but three four successful businesses in the last 20 years.

That kind of stuff inspires me and so does what comes with being successful never having to worry about bills or helping your family that may be in need…also affording beautiful homes like John Assarafs’ home below:

That view from what has to be a helicopter is something else :) .

I thought this was a rather interesting post I was reading while doing my morning scan.

Something I could definitely share with you guys. I was checking hoping none of the business I started was featured on the list.

I really didn’t expect clothing or internet to be on there, because consumers are always going to buy clothes might not be my brand, but that is what reinventing yourself is for.

Here is the list:

Record Stores

According to Entrepreneur record stores are closing in record numbers. For one Tower Records which at one time was a big competitor in the music, dvd, cd field has closed down all 89 stores, because of stiff competition from Wal-Mart and the online music industry. I think many others are feeling that wrath too. I know local stores FYE and other music stores around the way have closed their doors for good…don’t you hate it when that happens tough break.

Odds of survival in 10 years were: Great only if you consider Wal-Mart a record store…I mean who doesn’t :)

As you know the Global Fashion Network: Where The Apparel Industry Connects is in full effect and growing hourly.

Really I think it is going to be a big hit and really help the Global apparel industry with sourcing contacts and networking within their related field whether apparel, footwear, or textile industry.

I want to give a rundown of some of our new features, but one in particular called Fashion Faceoff, which we will get to later.

As of now users are able to write and publish their own blog, videos (up to 100mb) and pictures. Google Maps is integrated so that users can calculate how far another business/designer/resource is away from their current location. The industry forum and now the Fashion Network is over 1,000 members. You can create events and they will be displayed to everyone within the fashion network so the larger our community becomes the more beneficial it will be to all who join. Imagine 1,000 people knowing about your last fashion show with the click of a button….great promotion for free.

Now if you pass up on this deal than I suggest you not think about starting a clothing line, because promotion and exposure doesn’t get any easier than this ;) .

From this moment and time of this article I will record all comments on the blog. Whoever has the most relevant, (They have to be relevant and make sense) at least one sentence long comments on this blog by the end of a month period from here to next month October 13.

Comments like “Great Article” or “I Agree” …I don’t agree. Real opinions and suggestions on the topic of the article, trade show, experience, or the idea in question. That’s all

Any article or page on the Dobizo blog. I would say the new articles are best to comment and will get you more exposure in the process from the link you will also get from the Top Commentator plugin at the bottom right sidebar of the Dobizo website.

This is the fourth installment of the Dobizo Answers page in one day…might I add :) . It looks as if I might have struck gold with the addition of the Dobizo Answers and Promote page.

Matt Shit :( Gave one hell of an introduction so long that I’m not going to post it, but you can see it here then asked this question:

how important is the origin of the shirt in the fashion industry and how much does it effect the success of a line and how often is it considered when customers purchase clothes?

Funny you ask that question Matt, because if you would’ve scrolled a little past the fifth article you probably would have seen this Consumers Are Now More Conscious of Made In U.S.A. Label and How Apparel Companies Use It In Marketing Their Product it is an article discussing the origin of garments and how consumers react to it in this day and age.

Ever wanted to promote your clothing company on Dobizo. Well from here on you can promote your company by adding your link and a brief summary in a comment on the Promote page.

You all have Ed Fielding over at FishBoy to give thanks to the idea.

The promote page was originally for banners that you could use to promote the different Dobizo Network sites, but when Ed posted a comment on the page with a link to his site it gave me another idea.

Why not let people post links to their site freely and you can even give a brief (Paragraph) summary about your clothing store, clothing line, wholesale store, manufacturing service or whatever you offer as long as it pertains to the apparel, footwear, or textile industries.

The promote page will also contain banners which you can copy and paste onto your website as a thanks to Dobizo for all the articles, ceo audios, forum and all the great things you like about us.

The Fashion Network is now fully functional and Integrated into the Dobizo Forum.

What this means is when you log into the forum it will be in the frame of the Fashion Network.

You may still join the forum without joining the Fashion Network, but if you join the Fashion Network it will automatically create a temporary password and send it to your profile inbox for you to login the forum with including your profile username.

So you probably ask yourself what if I already am a member of the forum and have a username?

It will still send you a temporary password and as long as you signed up with the same username on the Fashion Network as you already have on the Forum that will be your new password (The temporary pass) unless you change it back at a later time which is all good, but you will resume with the same username and all the post you started and replied to will still be intact.
