I’ve been brainstorming and thinking about what type of clothing company I want to start and for a second I was going to do something way out of my field and create a upscale womens wear line, but I wouldn’t enjoy the process or the market.
So I’m going to stick with where my heart is and that is menswear, but I want to create more of a premium/contemporary lifestyle line along the lines of Monarchy, Affliction, Kid Robot but with the crossover appeal of LRG/Ed Hardy…I have many ideas, but I will boil it down to make it a fulfilling clothing line.
I decided to stay with in my lane, because it is a market that I know well and most likely appeal to the bulk of our audience here on Dobizo Network. I actually have the name for the clothing company already, but thought it would be good to see what many of you thought about some of the other fashion names I came up with. (Just some of many)
- Rule of Thumb Apparel
- Dream Deferred
- Fashion Empire
- Barely Legal (Juniors line)
- Printed Pleasures
- Broken English (My Pick)
I decided to go with Broken English and for no apparent reason other than the fact that I like the way it sounds and I easily came up with ideas for designs, themes, and the type of clothing I could build around the name.
Getting started with a new clothing line is just exciting as it was the first time, but with a large audience of opinions and readers to share it with, which I think will make for an interesting creation.
We are going far and beyond just a t-shirt line, which is how the original idea was laid out in my mind, because I want to go as far as creating a solid line from denim jeans, jackets, premium cut & sew t-shirts and much more. I have already received a few emails from users wanting to help with the apparel and graphic creation and a big thanks goes out to you guys. We’re still looking for more sponsors for this documentary seamstress, label makers, screen printers or whatever your company can provide to make this idea come to life on the Dobizo Network email me at sponsors@dobizo.com. I have already spoke to one of four graphic designers that are getting started on the logo development for Broken English and I will reveal it to you guys soon as everything is final. After the logo is developed I will move on to starting the business plan, which I would like suggestions from every and anybody that reads Dobizo blog.
What steps did you take to develop your clothing lines name? How long before you made your final decision?
