Cutting tickets are tickets that contain the exact details for an actual order set for production. These are great to have in case of a needed dispute between a clothing company and a manufacturer. They contain important information like style number, trims used, size ranges, date of delivery, pattern pieces, and maybe drawing or graphic of the finished product. Good decision to use when producing custom pieces from scratch.

I am a little confused over your explanation of a cutting ticket. In my circles a cutting ticket is issued to a contractor or apparel manufacturer by the designer to facilitate production of an order. Some also refer to it as a PO.Cutting ticket is term used on a factory floor that is a neccessity for an order to be put into the production rotation. It specifies the style, the amount of sizes, delivery dates, conditions you set out. The confusing part of your brief post neglects to mention tech packs. This is a “manual’ for each style that denotes all pertinent info on the style icluding trims, self fabrics etc..It usually is divided into 2 parts, with the bill of of material(BOM) listing every component of the garment. The remainder of the tech pack is a ” how to” including sketches or diagrams. A “cutters must” sometimes forms part of the tech pack which itself is a separate component. This does list all pattern pieces, directions for cutting ie.grainlines, other comments etc.In many cases ,cutting is done in separate locations and hence the need for it to be on it’s own. People that attempt to put every iota of information on a “cutting ticket” in your albeit brief rundown are asking for trouble, as contractors need clear concise informative instructions. And they should also have a sewby sample. Without an approved sewby sample, disaster looms. Most disputes between clothing brands and clothing manufacturers are caused by poor communication, both written and oral. Lastly, some factories won’t require a “cutting ticket” if doing full package manufacturing , only a detailed Purchase order.

It was a daily definition not a full blown Article!….if you look back in my blog I state that a daily definition is just a short definition of the stated term and will be further discussed in detail later on…..it also says about how it specifies style, the amount of sizes….etc etc…but thanks I see I don’t have to do that now

Why not ask your course instructor for info on what one looks like. They should know.
