Most of you guys/girls are familiar with jersey knit fabrics, because most of you have atleast one or two t-shirts in your closet and most likely it is some form of jersey knit cotton. Jersey knit ranges in ounces you can choose?depending on the wear you want out of the garment and if you are a designer the weight you would choose would most likely reflect the clothing?line you offer. Jersey is an interlooped fabric from yarn, which has a smooth side and a more textured side.
I remember when choosing t-shirts for my clothing line and I?wanted something with a nice weight, but not too heavy or bulky, being that I wanted my customers to be comfortable wearing what I had available in the winter or summer time….I had to make due with what was available to me. So I chose a 6 oz., from?Alstyle Apparel?(1301 NAFTA Friendly),?which is what most street wear lines will use (The Hundreds). A contemporary or sportswear?line like Johnny Cupcakes might choose a lighter weight t-shirt like American Apparel, because they have a softer hand and are very light weight.

You may want to point out that many fabric suppliers use a gram weight when measuring the fabrics. Universally accepted, a 6 oz. tee shirt in the US would be a 198 gm/m2 around the world.
Be sure to ask if the ounce measurement is per linear yard or per square yard. Big difference.
I can hardly wait till we discuss double knit jersey. Moving on up.
