Licensing agreements are used in the apparel industry all the time. Whether it is a celebrity licensing their name to be used on a clothing company or how Bathing Ape?went into a licensing agreement with Pepsi to produce the camouflage soda cans. A licensing agreement is when one party/person gives another party the right to use their trademark or name most likely to distribute on a product in a binding contract, not to be confused with an endorsement.
Many clothing companies that have added footwear divisions of their clothing companies go into license agreement with footwear manufacturers. The responsibility is then within the hands of the manufacturer to produce quality footwear bearing the clothing companies logo or name. Usually there is some kind of revenue share in the agreement. Some celebrities are paid lump sums to let a?private label apparel?companies like Tarrant produce clothing under their name and other than appearances for promotion?their obligations end there.
