If you run a clothing line whether you know it or not at one point and time you will be sourcing. The online definition of sourcing is as follows: The process of identifying, conducting negotiations with, and forming supply agreements with vendors of goods and services.

All in all that’s a good definition, but of course we are going to get a little deeper than that. Major clothing companies like Ralph Lauren and Lacoste all have a group of people who handle sourcing for their apparel company’s needs. Unfortunately since most of us are starting from the bottom we have to operate a little differently and handle most of the responsibility ourselves including sourcing. If you are looking for a textile supplier and find one that suits your needs than you negotiate on the goods or services they are going to provide your company you were?SOURCING for a textile supplier. If you decide to move production?abroad?to a?new manufacturer and are contacting and negotiating with different contractors overseas than you’re SOURCING for a apparel manufacturer. Whether you know it or not most likely you have already been sourcing in your while running your clothing company.
