The non coloring process to make woven or knitted fabric more acceptable to the end consumer and producing textile fabrics from greige goods. If you’re not familiar with greige goods click here. Different processes include bleaching prior to dyeing, treatments, adding properties/chemicals to enhance the performance.

Knit goods don’t require down sizing and bleaching as opposed to woven greige goods, therefore the finishing process requires only scouring to thoroughly clean the goods prior to dyeing. Most greige goods are dirty and require scouring (steam/water/detergents) to remove oils and mineral materials.
