Daily Definiton: Incubators

This was kind of a new term for me, but after reading up on it a bit I can remember retailers who were incubators and from my experience their not the most presentable stores around, but a viable option if all else is lost.

An incubator which is a store offering other arrangements for displaying garments to small designers. Some include showroom space for wholesale offerings and studio space where they can design and interact with buyers.

Instead of buying the garments wholesale retailers charge a monthly fee in exchange for the garments being displayed. Other stores may choose to take a percentage of sales or do both a percentage and a monthly fee (ouch! cut in profits). I don?t know if an incubator is the best option for presenting your line being it can be seen as low quality or amateur and when it comes to some consumers, image is everything!
