When speaking of quality of clothing most think of the weight of the fabric or the durability, but a garment must also be able to?retain its aesthetically pleasing shape and size when put to the test against the wear & tear of its life span.

The above is a? test of a?garments Dimensional Stability which is the ability of a garment to keep its original shape and size after washing and/or dry cleaning.

The stability of the garment all depends on its fabric content blends, special chemical treatment and what it will be used for. Different levels of stability vary just as different levels of quality and is left up to the designer to fill the need of your customer or the standard of the apparel market that you may be entering. If you are producing work or construction clothing than the dimensional stability would definitely play a more important role than if you were producing designer wear dresses and hats.

Are there any specific guidelines one should follow in regards to t-shirts and caps? My reason for asking is that if you’re selling one of these items for more than $25, quality should be a consideration. I’m wondering if the fact that I have a 6.5 oz tee and 8 bill stiches on my fitted caps will suffice.
