Clic Design is a company I came across about a month or so ago and I have to say they have what seems to be some great tools for apparel designers.

I know how many of you ask about how you can do apparel designs on Photoshop and Illustrator. Well Clic Designs tools directly help you create motifs, design repeat patterns on textiles, fabric color matching, integrate yarn dye fabric design solutions right into your Photoshop/Illustrator programs and my favorite Style Draper Pro which allows you to directly lay a print design, textile, or fabric directly onto the body of a model bringing lifelike draping to your computer. (You have to see it here for the full effect) Basically you get a rendering of your fabric, or texture on a live model.

Let’s talk about some of the programs that Clic Design offers:

Style Draper- Allows you to isolate parts of models to drape with your designated fabric, which is good for getting a feel of how an all over print will look or how a fabric looks draped on the human body. The option of being able to scan actual fabrics and lay them on the human figure gives a lifelike look to the draping ability of Style Draper.

You can choose to have the texture screen print, colored, or all over. The use of this tool is unlimited, because you could easily appear to have a full catalog of models with your clothing, or for online shopping purposes for your web store or just to get a feel of how a certain repeat design pattern will look on the human body. One of their other Photoshop tools helps designers create plaid patterns on fabrics with the option of real-life textured weaving ability added to plaids right on your computer screen. Plaid Maker Pro aids in creating any type of yarn dye fabrics including plain, sateen, diamond, twill, basket, herringbone and more with great ease directly on screen and it works inside Photoshop.

Clic Design offers a supply of tools that can help you drape, create motifs, design textiles, create plaid patterns, and create sample color matched swatches to make your Photoshop/Illustrator apparel designing more efficient. Most of the programs are Mac and Windows compatible and should operate properly if Photoshop or Illustrator is currently running on your computer.
