Famous Stars and Straps to Open Store in L.A.

LOS ANGELES (December 1, 2006) - The Corona, Calif.-based Famous Stars and Straps apparel and accessories label has announced plans to open its first standalone retail store at 8101 West 3rd Street in Los Angeles early next year. The 1,500-square-foot space, formerly home to the Paul Frank boutique, will be designed by the Tag Front architectural design firm and include limited-edition and exclusive product and serve as a venue for guest artists as well. Famous Stars and Straps T-shirts, caps and accessories are sold by retailers like Tilly?s, Zumiez and PacSun.

As you may or may not know Travis Barker former drummer of band successful rock band Blink 182 is founder of clothing line Famous Stars and Straps and is co-owned with fellow rocker Mark Hoppus. Since it?s inception in 1999 the founders strive to make it a relevant clothing line in the skate/action sports arena of fashion. The line consists of t-shirts, jackets, hats, and shoes up until lately. Now a women?s line has been added to the line up. They also specialize in skateboard decks, belt buckles, and bandanas. Not sure if they own the line or just the face of the brand, because most celebrity lines are own by major fashion distributors like Kellwood or Liz Claiborne. Who both have bought out major fashion lines Kellwood-Phat Farm and Liz Claiborne-Enyce.
FSAS clothing has been worn by many celebrities including Barker himself, his bandmates Tim Armstrong, Rob Aston, Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus and rapper Paul Wall. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas wore the clothing on the cover of DUB Magazine (#28) and Brooke Burke on the cover of Transworld Stance (June 2003). The clothing has also been worn by many hip hop artists like, rapper Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri, Lil Wayne and The Pack. The FSAS models Adrianne Curry and Tiffany Fallon, also wear the clothing. On a more personal note I wouldn’t wear the clothing…too simple and not really creative. What’s your thoughts on the line?

Same here too simple and just too commercial dont get me worn i like some of it but as a whole not my cup of tea

Too simple? WOW~ I love the work that Jon Chase does for them and they always keep it interesting. It seems like I am always at his Showroom in Corona buying new merch! I Hate to tell you this, but Famous just can’t be stopped!~Crack

The scene that Famous is targeting is quickly designating into a fine tip selection as oppose to a broad market like Hurley or Volcom. The great thing for the company is their record of success and contracts which will keep them afloat above their similar competitors. I see Famous staying in the market for the next 5-10 years.
