This is another one of those inspirational posts.
This is also for everyone who emails Dobizo asking how do I get investors interested or someone to finance my company….this is why they want:
- First you must have a company…not just ideas
- Second sell something. Business men and women are not going to invest in something that isn’t proven to make them some kind of return or have an almost 100% guarantee that they are going to make money off of their investment.
- Most likely they will not invest in a company that doesn’t have anything more than t-shirts and has not created some kind of following or has significant brand awareness or a core audience of consumers
- The chances of you getting an investor that is not your friend or family member at an early development stage are slim-none. Those are just the facts
Now back to the good news for womens designer fashion line Rachel Roy who has just sold a minority stake in her successful clothing line to TSM Capital for an undisclosed amount. With a strong financial backing Rachel Roy will be able to expand upon the 100 doors her clothing company is already available in and also a small presence in some overseas boutiques.

I found this site two days ago, 11/12/07. And God as my witness, it’s a blessing! I’ve been praying for guidance and direction. I’ve literally prayed for a mentor. I have the drive and ambition to do anything, but I lack the know how in many cases. I’ve been in business now for 3 years, and the main thing I’ve been lacking is insight and advise. I’ve been working on improving my networking and trying to get insight on things I should do from local companies. I’m located in Virginia and there are some very successful clothing lines out here, but I haven’t been able to really connect with them or get inside; individual are very tight with information and not willing to provide advice. Over the last two days I’ve been on this site for over 12 hours. I’ve been listening to the interviews and reading up on the Getting Started Articles. This morning I literally experienced chills down my spine whe I was listening to the designashirt interview. The information was very insightful and exactly what I’ve been looking for. I want to thank you and most importantly commend you for doing such a great job! Continue the incredible work and I wish you the very best of luck. I’m devoted to this site from here on out. Fred you are absolutely the best! This is better than mentor, book, or site I could have wished for. This site make me believe in the proverbial saying: “The best things in life are free.”
