Don’t be surprised if your clothing brands receives a unannounced call from an investment banker or angel investor…but only if your brand has global appeal.
According to a resource investors are now more than ever looking for new,but fairly established fashion brands to put their hard earned money behind to expand and market them globally. Most companies that they are interested in have revenues within the seven to eight figure range annually and have the potential for universal appeal.
Many were seen during fashion week in New York sitting along side the runway with designers, press and visitors all there for the festivities while investors were looking for there next business move.
According to WWD the investors range from investment funds and private equity firms such as the recently formed TSM Capital, founded by an industry veteran Marvin Traub along with Mortimer Singer and Aslaug Magnusdottir, and The Atelier Fund, which was launched earlier this year by Marty Wikstrom and Dawn Mello.
I can see many lifestyle brands like Five Four clothing and The Hundreds being snatched up and designer brands from Zac Posen who exploded onto the seen with an investment/partial acquisition from Sean John being gobbled up by the larger firms in the years coming.
