Microsoft & Lectra has decided to team up for the development of a new Fashion Design Software. Kaledo 3D Trend is the program that really closed the deal for Microsoft. Developed with Windows Vista, while Kaledo 3D is not like any other fashion software enabling designers to make a 3D virtual storyboard. Instead of flats and 2D animations fashion designers will now be able to present a product with renderings from all sides. The program let’s you create virtual worlds where you can add sound and video, while walking your prospect through your 3D rendering you are also presenting your collection in a whole new concept. This is a very innovative way of presenting your collection to a manufacturer and could really clear up any language barrier that is usually associated with working overseas.

Everyone knows Adobe Illustrator isn’t cheap, but in comparison to custom software applications for fashion design, it is VERY competitive. It’s a very mature software environment and you can use it for many other aspects of design for your business.
You want to design cut & sew garments or other apparel?
1) Buy Kevin Tallon’s ‘Creative Fashion Design with Illustrator’ (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/104-4783435-5091921?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Kevin%20Tallon)
2) Get a copy of Adobe Illustrator CS2 (the free 30 day trial will do)
3) Go through Kevin’s book, which teaches you how to use Illustrator SPECIFICALLY for fashion design
4) Draw up all your sketches with Illustrator
5) Find a local pattern maker or tailor and get them to re-work your designs
6) Send the finished patterns to a factory for production
Fred, maybe you could link the book with your Amazon revenue program?
The book costs $16.50 and will turn you into a PRO. I highly recommend it.
