Advanstar (Parent company of apparel trade show MAGIC) has appointed Chris DeMoulin former Disney executive and film marketer as the new president of MAGIC International.

At first glance this seemed to be a mistake by appointing the executive of an entertainment empire as president of the apparel industry’s leading trade show, but after a little research I found that Chris DeMoulin is very much qualified for the position. In addition to his position at MAGIC Chris has also been appointed as executive vice-president of Advanstar?s fashion group, where he will advise for the Project and Pool shows.

Prior to joining Advanstar Chris was head of a private consulting firm and the senior vice president of retail for Disney’s consumer products group. What caught my attention was the fact that he is credited with negotiating more than $1billion in apparel licensing agreements..$billion so the numbers speak for themselves.

In other news Magic is still in discussion of cutting the show down to three days instead of the four that it currently operates at, but still nothing is final for more read Magic Trade Show is Considering Shortening Show Cycle to Three Days

Let’s watch and see how the new president proves worthy by the upkeep and changes that I know will most likely take place to Magic’s lesser known sister and brother Project and Pool.
