I’m pretty sure you are all familiar with PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals)?the animal rights protection group that have attacked many and plenty of clothing companies for using real fur in their clothing production. Including Sean John and Rocawear who were both accused for using dog fur on their men’s hooded jackets.
Well this case is a little different, but I thought it was very interesting considering Nike dropped suspend?Michael “Mike” Vicks entire product line that they were offering for the 2007 seasons after he was accused of dog fighting. This include shoes, jersey’s, and any other Nike/Vick product without pay of course.
I wonder is Nike really trying to punish him for his involvement in animal cruelty/dog fighting or are they just worrying about the wrath of the PETA group for associating such a well known brand with this kind of animal cruelty in exchange for a little promotional power from Michael Vick’s NFL fame?
What are your feelings toward using REAL animal fur in clothing production? Will you make use of “faux” fur or use the real thing?

I think Nike’s decision to suspend Vick was well thought out and justified. Who would want a ” spokesperson” who first lies about his involvement in such a repugnant activity, and secondly, who would want someone endorsing their products who obviously has no compassion for animals ?
I hope they throw the book at this punk and he is banned for life from the NFL. Nike did something positive on this issue.

I think people are jumping to conclusions, and it’s sad. As a person with a Law degree, I know that indictments are not that hard to get. Just because someone has an indictment does not mean they are guilty. It’s sad that people cannot get a public trial and this proves that you are NOT innocent until proven guilty. Sad.. America is going to hell in a handbasket. Animals lives are important, but it’s a shame that those dogs lives were more important that this man’s. If he is found guilty, he should have to pay up, but UNTIL THEN, let him live his life.
But, to ansswer your question, I don’t buy faux fur garments and accessories. I love, love, love animals, but I prefer the real stuff better than the fake. Maybe there might be a way to only use the fur of animals that died of other causes. I’m not sure, but there will ALWAYS be real fur, Fashion will never just go to faux fur completely.
