Official cap company is ready to go up against the big boys of the cap manufacturing industry New Era with the release of their fitted cap line of hats available at Drjays. From what I seen so far nothing they offer is significantly different from the New Era Cap company, but their was only three hats available on Drjays. Maybe they have some other pieces that I would see worthy of being New Era Caps competition. They do use creative patterns and different fabrics compared to most hat manufacturers and their brand of hats do carry the “limited” tag, plus you can’t get them at any Lids or Hatworld location.
Do you think they actually stand a chance of being a real competitor for New Era Cap Company?

I wish them best of luck, New Era is kind of a monopoly in their field. But if they show creativeness, they will sell. Don’t know much about competing with the giant “New Era” though.

“New Era is kind of a monopoly in their field”
I was thinking the same thing…

I don’t know about them being comp for NE but im ready to see the evolution…..its going to take time for them to get on the level with NE because NE is collaborating with alot of different labels. Its like NE is involuntarily making “fitted cap” their Trademark name by assosiation.

New Era have done a great job in bringing quality fitted caps to the market. Is there room for more players ? Most definitely. You all must know Yupoong from Korea. I think they trademarked the term ” flexfit”. They might not have the marketing muscle of NE, but they make a kick ass product.
New Era are spending a great deal of time and money on branding and by your responses here, it seems to be working. Everyone thinks they are the only ones capable of making quality fitted caps.
There are hundreds of factories in China that are capable of making quality hats, and New Era probably employs many of these facilities. Anyone looking to do caps just needs to locate these factories or their representatives and you too can make identical product. At less cost.

Don’t get me wrong I agree anyone can make great caps…but as far as serious competition towards “New Era” you will need a huge marketing avenue to even be considered their competition. They have that brand awareness that takes years for companies to grasp, everytime you see a clothing line or professional team with that “New Era” logo.. you know that they’re official.

“licenses from the NBA, MLB, and NFL” good point all of these will definitely put them on the map. Easier said than done though.

New Era can muscle in and create brand awareness as margins in headwear are monstrous. Much like margins on footwear, it’s not uncommon to see 600-800% margins. Those $35.00 caps at retail are sometimes as low as FOB $1.50 China.
They could never be a dominant player without these profits to play with. Getting there is one thing, but it helps to have this type of profit to build awareness.
A cap license from any major league sport, Formula One, European soccer etc… is a license to print money and it is real difficult to secure one. It’s more than money.

i got one of the plaid OFFICIAL caps like a month ago. It is identical to the NEW ERA in terms of the cut and fit, although it is lined with a different material than the NEW ERA….I am very pleased with it. My friend has the HIGH SNOBIETY collab (pictured above) and it is sick as can be. The under part of the bill is made of a suede like material…..THEY ARE HIGH QUALITY VERSIONS OF THE NEW ERA, SAME FIT.
