The Supima Premium Fabric Showis coming up for Fall/Winter 2008-2009 in July from the 17-19th. Supima Premium Fabric Show is a textile fair held in New York City. At its simplest form Supima is a textile trade show with manufacturers including:

  • Square Textiles- a Bangladesh knit specialist
  • Creditex- Peruvian shirt specialist
  • Somelos- A yarn supplier
  • Buhler- A yarn supplier

Some of the above are just some of the top textile producers that were in attendance in January 2007. This is only the second installment of the Prefab textile fair so expect the producer list to grow exponentially. DNR magazine cosigned the show so it is definitely a contender in the slew textile trade fairs that are going on around the same time. So if your in New York City and your interested in premium fabrics for your menswear or women’s wear line I would encourage you to stop by. To RSVP go to the PreFab website.

Wow, this looks like a different show. With about 13 actual companies providing fabric, and the rest either yarn spinners, this looks like a show that is supima cotton oriented then ?

I would imagine they are showing the higher end of the cotton spectrum and this may be of interest to to clothing companies wishing to make products that distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack, the commodity players.

Fred, I think they should fly you up to NYC and you should do a report on the show. I know the show is small at this point , but I can guarantee the vendors would love to have an opportunity to pitch all your Dobizo readers. These guys know urban brands are getting huge money for their styles, and they are looking for ways to reach them. I also think a premium brand of clothing using premium materials has a better shot at success than others that use lesser quality materials.

You are correct Thom the show is oriented around Supima cotton suppliers….I wish they would fly me up too…:D

I took the time to visit this show. I needed to visit NYC and I am glad I visited. Not large in scope , the emphasis was on quality products made from Supima cotton and how they separate themselves from the other cotton producers. No commodity producers exhibited, and you will only find Supima cotton in higher priced goods.

I found I spent about 3 hours at the show, an amazing amount of time for small show , but extremely worthwhile.
