I think trends are very important to a business for keeping up with what’s current and staying ahead of the competition, but no one business should let trends drive their sales in any case, because trends are just that trends and will sooner or later die out and be replaced by the next “new” thing in fashion. It is always better to create classic silhouettes and garment collections that can stand the test of time and tie in a trend or two here in there to complete the seasonal offerings.

As you know by now I am an avid reader of magazines like WWD and/or DNR because they simply keep fashion companies ahead of trends and what’s going on in the corporate world of fashion.

The new look in denim jeans 2008 is the skinny/straight leg, but the trend is now heading back toward the worn, distressed and destroyed look that dominated denim and jeans seasons ago in the younger mens market.
