Uhdiktiv is a new sponsor of Dobizo.com and as always we give each sponsor an unbiased review of their product or service. If you would like to sponsor Dobizo visit our advertise page.

On the surface Uhdiktiv is another Karmaloop’s Kazbah or Drjays Street Swag, but after speaking with the owner this is actually going to be for the independent brand, artist or designer and/or startup that isn’t qualified for the other online shops that swear by the idea of only accepting startup brands, artist or designers when most that they carry have been in business for a few years.

What’s This All About?

Uhdiktiv pronounced (A-dik-tiv) is an online shop where brands, artist, and designers can setup a store to sell there goods and benefit off of the traffic generated by Uhdiktiv’s advertising, promotions, and marketing. Each store pays a commission and monthly rent for your store space in exchange of selling and having your extension on the http://www.uhdiktiv.com/(your store). What are some of the benefits?

Uhdiktiv gives some of the benefits of working with them being:

  • Access to Uhdiktiv.com’s audience of a couple of 100,000 monthly visitors and an email list of over 50,000 subscribers
  • A world-wide, non-exclusive, license to use the Uhdiktiv in connection with the sale of the Uhdiktiv’s vendors original product.
  • Annual Uhdiktiv showcase for mini-online store owners
  • A worldwide, non-exclusive, license to use the proprietary functionality (The Technology) of www.uhdiktiv.com

User Responsibitity:

  • Maintain your store appearance and keep it updated with new clothing or the latest products.
  • Create your shipping and store policy for your goods. Customer/Service and Returns. or processes other than related to the technical aspect of the website.
  • Paying rent on time and fulfilling all orders and shipping on time.

Potential Problems:

I think a problem that could definitely arise is that young startup brands will not have the means to ship on time and fulfill all customer inquiries throughout the day and that is one of the main reasons that places like Karmaloop and Dr Jays Street Swag strayed away from using newbies in the fashion industry, because they’ve yet to understand the structure of the industry and how customer service, shipping and how the needs of customers should be handled.

Product flow could be another problem for a site dealing with new clothing, jewelry, and artist selling product, because most put out collections once or twice a year compared to a more established brand so the product offering for the site could get kind of stale after a few months depending on the amount of brands and designers accepted.

Uhdiktiv’s statement about having over 100,000 unique visitors monthly sounds pretty far fetched considering it takes some sites years to build up that kind of consistent daily audience (3,000-4,000 daily), but that could be a projected estimate by their Spring/Summer 2008 debut. Also the list of over 50,000 email subscribers would definitely be unheard of unless of course they bought an email list and with that most users would mark it as spam, because even though many opt-in to these types of list it is usually through a third party and most emails that arrive are unwanted.

My Suggestions

They have taken most of what I suggested and made many things about the site better, but I think one thing that could get them closer to that 100,000 visitors per month mark is to create a blog for the Uhdiktiv site and build on it until the Spring 2008 release.

If you would like your brand to be part of the Spring 2008 release please visit Uhdiktiv’s website for more information.
