Hopefully all who read this blog is familiar with one of the largest apparel trade shows in the world.

One of the questions that has always been in my mind is how affective the Magic is for small clothing companies that are self-owned and still in the beginning stages. Considering you have no brand awareness so it’s not like the buyers are checking for you.

We spoke on that subject in the article Magic Trade Show….Is It Atleast Worth It .

I just wanted to know with this article how many people reading will be at the Magic trade show?this August 27-30 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I would love to get some feedback about some of the new attractions this year and maybe some exclusive pictures. Just another idea I have brewing for the Dobizo website. Just to help new hopefuls get a more visual and informational experience about the different apparel trade shows.

This time I will not be in attendance…just have too many things going on at the moment.

So how many will be in attendance? If so are you exhibiting, buying, visiting, or press?

MAGIC is cool. But, i have been going to MAGIC for the last 5 years and it is sad to see start up companies put all that money into a booth, travel, hotel, union fees, etc. just to get lost in the caos. In my opinion MAGIC has some areas that are more effective for smaller companies like the “campground”. It is a group of some of the coolest brands around. If your going to do MAGIC try to get into this location. I do PROJECT, it is owned by MAGIC but caters to the smaller companies. It goes on the same time as MAGIC but it is located at the SANDS convention center. It cost less and more boutique buyers go to this show and it just seems like more business goes on here, not as many spectators. There is also POOL which goes on at the same time as well and is very similar to PROJECT. Buyers go to PROJECT & POOL looking to cool new lines and willing to write orders. Everyone that wants to hangout and look for celebrities goes to MAGIC. I think more than 50% of the people at MAGIC arent there for business. But MAGIC is really good for sourcing new suppliers from around the world. The sourcing section is usually a ghost town because that area isnt exciting.

I will take some pic’s of all 3 shows and post them on here. Seeing each one will really help you understand what i am talking about.

If your going to be in town stop by my booth and say whats up. Christian.

You have to check out UNITED if you want to check out some serious street wear.
They are not owned by MAGIC so no union fees, it is the only independant trade show in Vegas.

If you are in Vegas for MAGIC/PROJECT/POOL come over to UNITED and say hey to Zach at MindTrix Clothing.

in regards to my previous post, I slacked. I got caught up in looking and didnt take any photos at MAGIC, PROJECT or POOL, sorry.
But, i will make it a priority now to get some photos at every tradeshow i go to. I am going to Surf Expo http://www.surfexpo.com next week and will get some photos. It is a great show for anyone in the surf/snow/skate industry. I am trying to build my resort sales so my summer numbers are the same as the rest of the year. There are tons of surf shops that do huge volume during the summer.

This list of tradeshows is cool, but i heard that there were always smaller ($500 - $1000) shows going on all the time. Anyone know about these? I have the list of kids shows, but i want to be in more adult stores so i am down with going to show where i usually dont belong and introducing my stuf to people that usually wouldnt concider carrying it.

    Hi folks!
I want to invite and begin spreading the word about a new and very exciting project that I have been working on. We have created an online tradeshow. We understand the difficult barriers to entry and costs associated with a traditional tradeshow, so we (with the smaller operations in mind) created FashionPeddler.com. It is all done seasonally, and you are able to upload your line just before the mainstream trade shows will be starting. Your seasons are viewable for up to 4 previous seasons. It is going to be my job to add as many buyers to the site as possible. We would like to try and maintain a 3:1 buyer : designer ratio. We also have multiple advertising channels to increase your exposure! it will go to market this coming Monday 04-28-08 and I will begin the buyer recruiting campaign then! We hope to see you soon and good luck to all! for more information, please come visit us at http://www.FashionPeddler.com. we will have our demo up shortly. imagine an avenue for you to expose your line for a fraction of the price of a traditional tradeshow, without having to worry about all of the mess of travel and time!
