Liquid Graphics, a manufacturer of apparel for action-sports brands and rock groups. I thought this would be a great addition to the Industry page. Especially for many of the company’s that read Dobizo that may be interested in starting a action-sports themed fashion company and possibly launching at the ASR (Action Sports Retailer Show) arena.
The only thing negative I have to say about Liquid Graphics is the fact that their website is not fully functional yet and with a mildly established company just developing your online presence is not the best move for business.
For now unless you want to visit them at their Orange County, California office you check out some of their work from the collaboration with rock band Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington clothing company Ve’cel. Ve’cel is a premium t-shirt and hoodie fashion line that is available in higher end department stores and boutiques.

Fred you posted :” Liquid Graphics, a manufacturer of apparel for action-sports brands and rock groups”
Do they actually manufacture ? A real cut and sew operation ? Or are they are screenprinter ? The usual tees and hoodies ?

No they’re a full blown manufacturer from my understanding. The article I’ve read about them to gather information for this post listed them as a manufacturer. It is from a very reputable magazine ….DNR to be exact….i have a subscription.
Because the brands they work with do more than prints and what not. I know when you look at the site it gives you that impression of a screen printer for some reason…I felt that way too.

Full blown meaning they make tees and hoodies in Mexico ? I just get miffed when people start calling themselves manufacturers and they import simple knits.
I know several factories in the US that roll their eyes at these claims too. At one point, garment manufacturing was a broad industry in your stomping grounds of South Carolina, and your newest stomping grounds of Atlanta.
Textile mills in the Carolinas alone have taken some pretty devastating hard hits and these blank suppliers are part of the situation.

No they do more then tees and hoodies. jeans, knits, embroidery and other embellishments, but yeah I was aware of the situation with the Carolina. I’m still in South Carolina and back and forth to Atlanta.

Real original logo they have too. Not that I want to prolong this discussion Fred, but if they are glorified decorators, great, call them just that. Anyone, especially in SoCal, can schlepp around and buy jean jackets and hoodies and contract out the embroidery etc.. The real manufacturers have sewing machines, cutting tables , make to order. They have made substantial investment in equipment/technology to make this happen.
I point this out as many of your Dobizo readers need to know this Fred. Raw Talent which has been mentioned here most likely don’t do any of their manufacturing either. They utilize factories overseas and mark everything up. They are acting as agents. Another layer of margin added. Big margin.
People starting clothing lines , especially those making items other than tees and hoodies need to know it is OK to approach a factory directly and get stuff made. I just think you need to provide clarity to the new designers and make them aware of the differences and how to progress in apparel manufacturing.

Okay I understand where you are coming from now. Yeah I know Raw Talent doesn’t manufacturer everything in house…they do sub-contract outsource…or whatever.
I thought you were just asking what they were capable of as a company not really what they actually do in-house, but yeah I’m pretty sure they don’t have all that is provided from their company at their location and most is probably outsourced overseas or domestic.
Thanks Thom Great Point.
