Well it wasn?t actually a million, but it would?ve increased sales revenue for the year by a great amount. I thought I could share a personal business experience with you guys since this is the apparel blog and you could learn from my mistakes.
When starting out as entrepreneur in the fashion world your own eagerness can lead u to make mistakes when you really already know what?s the best solution. Starting an apparel line can be fun and stressful at times, but let me tell you excepting large orders from any retailer may seem like it will help u profit, but if you can?t really afford too deliver then you should leave the offer on the table.
When I was starting out I received a large order which at the time seemed like it would help me take my business to the next level by increasing productivity and sales revenue. At the time I didn?t really have a penny to my name, but I still accepted an order from a retailer that at the time I knew I couldn?t afford. Me knowing who I am thought what?s the worst that can happen I can either get the order and not deliver if I don?t have the money or pass and lose the order so it seemed like a win-lose situation right, wrong. I accepted the order went into production thought that by the time my manufacturer was done I would have acquired the money to finance the order, but it didn?t work out that way. What went wrong?were should I begin first off:
- The manufacturer wouldn?t ship until the order was paid in full!
- The retailer didn?t want to wait any longer so they CANCELLED the order.
- I owed the manufacturer so the delinquency was reported to the credit agency.
- My business was now associated with not delivering product on time! And the store wasn?t willing to give me another chance at that point in time.
All these problems from one mistake can easily be avoided?by the way this was the first business I started which was a line of hats and I no longer operate under this business name. Just make sure to take your time with your business and MAKE things happen don?t FORCE things to happen. You can only produce what you can afford to work within your budget!

Hi, this is a very helpful website! I am glad I found this and I will be sure to check it often. Regarding this post about big order, was the money for manufacturer the only problem? did you try to borrow some money in order to get the products? Borrowing money seems like a good thing to do if it could solve the problem with the deliverance and you can make profits and boost your brand in the end…or was there more complicated issues?I am just getting myself ready to go back to school and get a degree for fashion, I eventually want to start my own line and have my own store so I figure its never too early to learn about all the business side of things even though I don’t have anything yet!Anyways, thanks again for the invaluable advices and information!!

That’s awesome. I am about to write an article about the word “MILLION.” It seems to attract many readers. I’m sure your article wouldn’t be that popular if you titled it “My $394,230 order!”
