Continuing from Part 1, and Part 2 of the series.

If you’re going Full-time into the fashion industry ask yourself?do you have enough money to live off of until your clothing company becomes profitable and can sustain your current?life style? If part-time have you?calculated how much money you will need to earn and where you can cutback in cost?in order to provide for yourself until your clothing line support you comfortably.

Time-Will your current amount of activities and responsibilities allow you to run a business and put everything it needs to make it a success. If you work a full-time job will you have time to attend trade shows, promotional events and enough time outside of work to make a business possible? If you don’t have time (this goes back to financing) will you have enough capital to put toward hiring a sales rep, and enough staff to cover events and tasks that you are not able to attend? If you said no to any of the above are you willing to make sacrifices and changes to your life?to make your clothing line a success? If you said yes than nothing above really matters to a certain extent.

Physically and Mentally

Mentally-It might not seem like it, but running a business takes a toll on your body physically and mentally it is NOT for the weak-minded or easily distracted person. It takes lots of responsibility, knowledge, determination,?and discipline if you expect the best out of your business and want it to one day be your main source of income. It is very important to take the step of educating yourself on the fashion industry as a whole and knowing exactly what you want out of your clothing line. You must be ready to separate your business?from your personal feelings and agenda, because sometimes feedback or criticism on your fashion brand is something that you may take personally and that is not at?all the case…most of the time. Tuning out those naysayers and negative people who want to see you fail or either prefer the so called security of the 9-5 over following your dreams. It takes mental strength to give up all the partying, drinking, or whatever you do and give this future fashion empire a 110%. Many of these points are covered in my article on The Reality of Starting Your Own Clothing Line, which I consider one of the best eye opening articles on this blog. It touches on the tougher times as a fashion entrepreneur and how it’s not all glitz and glamour. No matter what some point in running your business?you are?bound to hit?hard times….real hard and your going to want to quit, but you must stay with a successful mindset and get back up every morning knocking each one of your goals out one by one until your business is a success.

Physically-The constant back and forth up and down nature of the business coupled with the late nights designing away and coming up with promotional ideas a person is bound to get burnt out. No matter how much you are dedicated to your business sometimes you have to take a step back and just relax…even I do it and I’m a workaholic?:) .?I always had the problem of taking on too many task at a time. When I started this website and seen the potential I put up four other blogs, but as you may or may not see I only have one website now other than my clothing line website, which is under construction (Will relaunch soon ;) ), because I wanted to focus more attention on what was important and not get burnt out physically or mentally while trying to juggle too many projects at one time. The prior sentence?goes back on time managing trying to do too many projects at once and not accomplishing any, which was an article I wrote and urge you to take a look at Time Management: Having ample time to access all your opportunities.
