There are only 24 hours in?a day and making the best of each hour is very important if you expect your business to grow and achieve your goals so that you can grow your clothing brand to its full potential.
I couldn’t tell you how much time I have wasted in the beginning stage of starting my clothing business, but I know it’s a lot. Of course I planned what I wanted out of my business from the beginning and aimed to work toward my goals daily by assigning task to each goal. I never really sat down and thought about how much I accomplished daily, because I focused more on long term goals. Short term goals are just as?important, because more than likely they lead up to what you have planned for your business in 1-2 years from now and can only be accomplished more efficiently and in a timely manner if you set aside time for each goal and move on only when they are finished to your fullest potential.
Spending each day early in the morning (7:30am) or late nights (12:30am) writing out daily list that kind of puts you in the mind of a grocery list, except it contains your goals and tasks for that day or you could crack down and proceed with the week as a whole. Ever since incorporating my list into my weekly rundown my days are more controlled, planned, and productive. I kind of had no choice, because at one point with so many things going on I found myself forgetting about interviews and missing great opportunities for my clothing business. Between running this blog and working on my clothing line and other websites amongst other things I would tend to get tied up in my work if I let myself.
Don’t just jot down ideas for your list. If your going to proceed with planning ahead, then your going to want to make sure that your list is realistic by that I mean write what you genuinely think you can accomplish and write task so that you can finish within a certain hour/time of the day. For example: As you might know or from my experience most clothing manufacturers close their doors/phones to the public or outside businesses around 5pm,?therefore?planning to check on your production order around that time wouldn’t be a realistic task for your day?due to?the time frame in which you planned. Calling a business office around 12pm is realistic, but not the smartest idea, because it is?literally lunch time for most U.S. businesses and most are very busy or understaffed around that time or right after. Don’t start a list if you?re not going to abide by it. It takes time and some form of discipline and at first the thought of writing out your daily activities may seem overwhelming and tedious, but at the end of the day you will feel more accomplished and you must understand that it’s all for the sake of your business and having ample time to access all your opportunities.
Preparing your list
If you haven’t prepared a business plan than that needs to be the first task, otherwise you will have no clue to where you want your business to be in the next 1-3 years. Otherwise your daily list might be damn near impossible. Because you must know what you?re working toward if you have no plans, no goals, nothing but an idea of having your own successful clothing business that?s a start, but we have to grow from there. Now that you have your business plan written. You will want to set time apart for each facet of your clothing business as mentioned above. Set an objective and a strategy. Basically what you have to do and how you will do it. Everything from?handling your?Financials,?business?calls (9-11am) (2-5pm), emails each morning and the last part of the night before bed, lunch (12-1), and finally sales. Those are some of the task from my daily routine that gets me through a productive day, but yours doesn?t have to be in no particular order just remember it should be realistic. Treat each day in business as if you are working your 9-5, treat it as your main job, because if everything goes as planned that is exactly what it will be.
Plan certain days for potential partnerships or sales business lunch meetings and don’t break your schedule unless the second party cannot compromise or the opportunity is too important to your business well-being to put off until later.
The overall affect of implementing a list into your business is to increase your productivity. You will accomplish more in less time and your mind won?t be a cluttered mess. Instead of doing many things at one time, but only finishing some of it, finish one task and then move to the next, but don?t get hung up on one objective and waste your day away, while NEVER moving on to the next.

You can never stress eneough the importance of writing down ideas, plans, goals… As your business grows, there are more tasks and it can become overwhelming if you are not prepare for it. Personally, I have finally learned to write anything down, more productivity and goals are acheived and not forgotten. It helps stay focus. I keep a small sketch book where I don’t only draw my design ideas, but I write down any thing else business related. I have a partner that when I tell my idea to, the first response I get is: “have you writing it down yet?” that has helped a lot too!
