Many publications are reporting slack retail sales all across the boards. From ending the year in slack holiday sales and earlier in the ‘07 year with weak back to school numbers 2008 is looking to be a bad year for retailers, which will ultimately affect clothing company’s bottom line.

Consumers are clutching their wallets and spending less frivolously. I’m going to predict that this will be a tough year for startups who depend on their sales at retail and don’t have the necessary cash flow to continue to produce season to season with continued soft sales on the retail side.

    * Take the shirts where the customer’s are rather than where being in competition with other larger brands. :)

    Plus Ive noticed a lot of consumer’s flocking into stores like Burlington coat factory and Tj maxx & Ross..Leaving the Malls sluggish.

    we kinda knew sale would be a drought from the begin of my start up witch started in 2001 and u thinking how i knew that cause i used to remember buy a naughty by nature or wu tang tee for like $16 and the hody for like $25 that was real hip hop prices and then everthing just wnet skyrocketed,,, my tee’s run cheap and affordable from $12 to $28 retail and i stay afloat that way, and i out lasted clothing brands such as pure players , varcity, fubu,arme,no limit clothing and ect fell off the map ,and us selling our clothing wholsale at a retail price we kill the game!!!

    This really isn’t going to be easy on all the small to mid size brands pushing $50 dollar Ts that don’t honestly stand out.
