This is my inspirational post for today about a designer-entrepreneur 39 year old Amy Smilovic named a Young Millionaire in Entrepreneur’s magazine 2007 list.

She runs a boutique clothing line with sales to exceed $21 million dollars in 2007. Amy’s fashion line Tibi LLC is operating out of New York City and has grown to be one of the largest contemporary fashion lines available in over 200 specialty stores and upscale department stores around the world. Her career in the fashion industry started after leaving her job at American Express and moving to Hong Kong in 1997.

In September of 2006 she opened Tibi’s first retail boutique in the Soho district, which is first of many to come.

This is great inspiration for designers around the country and provides excellent fuel to the fire to aspiring designers.

Great looking site, great looking styles,I am sure she met success by addressing a specific niche in the market. After identifying this niche, this may be the point where she was picked up by upscale department stores. Of course her clothing must be extremely well made and properly priced. And she must have gotten a break somewhere along the line to give that little extra push.
