I always noticed that when I had some kind of structure or plan for the week that I got more work done and it flowed more smoothly.
Otherwise I would sit at the computer for hours doing work that I?could’ve broken down into minutes or?an hour. I think a lot of the procrastination was because I was overwhelmed with such a huge workload and really didn’t know where to begin.
If you feel yourself in this same boat then you should definitely shut off your computer get a pen or pencil and make a plan….no not a business plan but a weekly goal oriented plan.
I guarantee that if many of us would just sit down and think about what it is that we really want out of our clothing?business and how we are going to get there then there would be no need for the question “Where do I start” if you have a plan you know exactly where to start and how to finish. It differs from one person to the next depending on your unique situation and the obstacles you face.
No matter if they are financial, or lack of business due to location or education. If you sit down and address these problems, then your next step would be to plan on how you will overcome them.
I challenge you to write down what you would like to accomplish with your clothing line in the next month…yes month. It can be anything add four new store accounts. Attend two new trade shows. Get additional capital. Finish a thorough business plan. Whatever!
Once you have figured out what the goal of that month is break it down into weeks and then even smaller days. Take one of your days off and plan what you will accomplish for the next week. Preferably Saturday because it is usually more slow and you’ve had time to come down from the week.
Don’t just plan and then do whatever when the week comes. STICK TO IT! Next thing you know those days turn into weeks…weeks into months…months into years and most likely you have accomplished more and did it efficiently without wasting a minute of your time.
With this plan you should be able to squeeze more out of the day by taking advantage of every waking second and not get so bogged down with work for hours.
Sometimes I would spend so much time on one project (Fashion Network) that I would slack on others. That is when a plan needs to come in so that you can take care of both projects without letting the other slack.
Who is going to take me up on this challenge? If so let me know the difference in your workload and what you have accomplished in a week or maybe?a month it’s your choice!
