Hmm…This is the question that ends up in my email box almost everyday whether it’s dobizo@dobizo.com or my profile on myspace.

Most send this email along with a quick ramble that I can almost imagine them telling me in person. My name is (insert your name) I want to start a clothing line name (insert your clothing line) and I want to know where do I start? Help me please!!!

Well first off if you already have a clothing line…you have already started. Also if you found my email dobizo@dobizo.com? then my common sense would tell me to read the contents of the site otherwise how can I expect to take you serious.

Especially when it seems like you are already taking the easy way out by just asking for what you want instead of reading what is FREE and available for you.

So where do I start? Well I started by figuring out exactly what I wanted to do with my clothing company or?Why?do I want to start a clothing company?

Is it for money?

Is it a goal?

Because every celebrity is starting a clothing line and I want one too?

It seems like fun!

Whatever the reason make sure you have one or at least some kind of motivation for wanting to start a business that is going to eat away every minute of your day and leave you dead tired at the end of everyday with no social life all in a hard day of work though .

My next step would be to figure out where you want your clothing company to go? What I mean is where do you want to see it in five years.

50 retail locations maybe?

400 store accounts worldwide…could be?

Or one flagship location in your hometown?

Some people have more modest goals while others expect to do a million in one year, which by the way is out of the norm, but definitely possible. For the most part it takes time to build a successful clothing company and a lot of hard work.

I would say if you are reading this article than you are one step closer to starting a successful clothing company than you were an hour ago. I can’t say I have every answer, because I learn something new everyday and will share it no matter how remarkable or “industry inside” it maybe.

Where did you start? Research? Clothing Name? Trademarks?
