without google’ing… i can easily tell you that a Upc code is product specific barcode that can universally be used a retailers who have bar code scannners. they can help track how much of a certain merchandise is left. they are quite pricey to obtain, especially if you have a lot of apparel that come in different sizes. But i believe you can obtain them from the UCC or smaller agents (who are often cheaper) because of grandfather pricing.

Are you listening class ? Jeez, you sound like a teacher the way you address your readership on some things. UPC codes are used by a retailer for inventory control and product tracking. How it ’s works is something like this: A company places an order for 6 styles of your t-shirt lineup. 24 pieces each. Each individual style will have a different multi digit number attached to it which then needs to be converted into a format that can be scanned and recognized company-wide.This consists of a series of bar codes , usually accompanied by only a few numbers. You can do this by purchasing the equipment from a company like Avery Dennison or you can seek out a service that will print the hangtags for you. You just provide them the 12 -14 digit sequence. Cost range , but you should pay no more than 5-10 cent apiece. The equipment can be expensive, so outsourcing is your best option.Even large companies who can afford the cost, outsource it.They are not label makers afterall. The company who purchases your stuff can now track sell through, as well as giving sales staff important POS info.If something is to be marked down, it can be done off the floor automatically by management staff and floor sales staff need only scan it for sale. It is not just large big box retailer using this barcoding system. Many small and medium size outfits use it.SOme is tied in with what type of computer/cash/debit sytem a comapny chooses to utilize.
