I hate making an example out of someone, but sometimes they can be a complete ass and deserve it. A note I received from a clothing line while promoting on myspace. Here is the note below:
?Thanks for the request and mad respect for yall info. and links but jaya jani doesn’t let competition into their network. Peace and prosperity.?
My reply:
?Don’t burn your bridges before their built…anyway much success to you and yours…there is room for us all only the strong will survive…being defensive to me is a weak trait.?
This is one of the reasons it?s so hard to get information on starting a fashion brand and working with other people in the industry. Everyone is so afraid of competition and there is room for most of us. Notice I said most because some brands will sell and some will flop. As long as you come out creative and invent your own lane, never give up and eventually you will be successful.
There isn?t anything wrong with sharing knowledge with other people in the industry. That is what keeps it thriving and fresh with new concepts from creative minds pushing the envelope. Having such a defensive attitude even though he tried to be polite while turning me down I could see right through it and so I replied with the message above and I received this:
?F@ck your lessons of today! I tried to be nice, but F@ck your line.?
That?s pretty much what I expected. You can burn bridges with a person who could take your brand to the next level. So get out there and network, share your ideas, and don?t be afraid to do so. Successful businesses are not built off just ideas, but they are successful from the actions you take and how your idea is implemented. That?s why investors buy businesses not ideas unless you come up with something revolutionary and from a fashion standpoint it?s not happening anytime soon. Don?t be scared of your competition learn their mistakes and capitalize off of them.

I agree. Openess, interaction and collaboration leverages. Don’t know the background of this here though and these guys might have had their justified reasons for this.

Very good point…could have been a method to their madness!

I decided this year to go back to my late ninety days… If someone wants to act like that… Slap the hell out of them when you see them. I don’t know about ya’ll but we roll with an enterouge. That kind of response is uncalled for. No business can survive without competition. This dude must have never takin a business course in his life… so when you see him, give him a lesson of the street. One he’ll probably understand.

i don?t know the whole conversation, but am pretty much on Hussel?s path. That?s the way I?d argue in such a case… me coming 2 from the streets can only agree with H, there?s people who only understand one language…

ps: ceo, why you approached them, any specific reason, and what kinda “network” is the guy referring to… only the 42 myspace buddies they have or something more special???
LOL

I cannot agree with you more on sharing of knowledge and ideas.
What did you want with this Jaya Jani anyways ? I will say their response was pretty ignorant and I can almost guarantee failure with a piss poor attitude like that.
Like a couple of commenters said, even if these are street tactics and reactions, there is absolutely no room for assinine behaviour, unless they want to keep selling their stuff out of the back of their car .
There is no such thing as “an in your face” clothing company. Most punks like Jaya Jani will need some very serious attitude adjustments if they have a hope in hell in succeeding.
